Meet Dr. Malhotra
Specialty
Dr. Malhotra is quadruple board-certified in electrodiagnostic medicine, neuromuscular medicine, brain injury medicine, and physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) — also known as "physiatry." He focuses on restoring function through cutting-edge, evidence-based care for patients dealing with musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions.
Clinical Approach
"When I meet a new patient, I invest a good amount of time getting to know them, uncovering issues that may not initially seem relevant, and diving deep into their experiences with prior treatments. I then conduct a thorough examination so I can answer their questions about what's going on and what the next steps might be. I believe that an informed patient is an empowered patient — and above all, I prioritize making sure they truly understand their condition and how they can best help themselves, with the fewest procedures or medications possible."
By looking at each patient as a whole person, Dr. Malhotra evaluates the relationships between all of the body's moving parts — known as biomechanics — to identify the root cause of pain that is often difficult to diagnose. He then builds a treatment plan around non-surgical options, which prove effective for most patients. With a focus on patient education over procedures, he empowers patients to take an active role in their own recovery.
"I also take pride in coordinating my patients' care and staying in close communication with their other providers. This interdisciplinary approach takes more time — but it consistently leads to better outcomes."
Dr. Malhotra's clinical work is shaped not only by his academic training and years of practical experience, but also by time spent at the bedside of veterans, family, and friends. As a founding member of Fortera, his vision is to offer primary care physicians a true one-stop shop for musculoskeletal and neuromuscular needs — covering evaluation, diagnostic testing, and referrals to the right subspecialists — so that invasive procedures are reserved for only when they are truly necessary.
