OnabotulinumtoxinA (Botox®) Injections

Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA) is a targeted injectable treatment used to manage chronic migraine and spasticity. By temporarily modifying specific nerve signals, Botox can help reduce the frequency of migraine headaches or decrease excessive muscle activity and tightness.

For chronic migraine, Botox is administered to specific areas of the head and neck to help prevent headaches and reduce the number of headache days over time.

For spasticity, Botox is injected into selected overactive muscles to reduce abnormal muscle tone and stiffness. Treatment is individualized based on the muscles involved and how the condition is affecting movement, comfort, and daily function.

Botox treatment is carefully planned based on the condition being treated. Chronic migraine follows an established pattern of injection sites, while spasticity treatment is tailored to each patient’s specific muscle involvement. When appropriate, ultrasound or other guidance may be used to accurately target muscles during spasticity treatment.

What to Expect

Botox is administered through a series of small injections during an office visit. The number and location of injections vary depending on the condition being treated.

The effects develop gradually and are temporary. When treatment is effective, repeat injections may be recommended periodically to maintain the benefit.

Part of Your Treatment Plan

At Fortera Health, Botox may be used as an individual treatment or incorporated into a broader care plan that includes medications, physical therapy, rehabilitation, and other treatments based on the patient’s needs.
